Starting January 9th, 2000, I built an RC plane. The orignal design was called the “Peice ‘O Cake”, due to its intentions of being easy to fly. It wasn’t.

Along the way I made some changes. The original design called for a tiny (0.049) gas motor. I instead used a much larger electric. This created some weight issues, and the airspeed is now higher, but it flighs.

I’ll have some pics of the frame, etc soon, but here’s the story of the most recent flight! (pics/movies by Mike Muldowney)

Here’s the field I flew in. Off to the right, out of the picture is equally as much land as is in. But see that one little section of trees back there? I hit them.

Mike provided a perfect toss, here’s a video of it flying well before the crash.

Here’s me up in the tree, trying to get the thing out. It was about 12-13 feet up there.

And here’s the plane, all the way up there.

Nicely, the wing popped off during impact and landed on the ground with just a rip on the top.

The landing went fairly smoothly. Notice my perfect approach! However, the ground was uneven and the wheels were small, thus the strange ground maneuver.

And here’s a nice pic of me carrying it back.
